Sobre este artículo
Monteagle, TN: Highlander Folk School, [1944]. First Edition. Bifoilum (28cm); photo-illustrated wrappers; [4]pp. Faint mail folds, a hint of wear and toning, else Near Fine. Promotional brochure for the Highlander Folk School in Monteagle, TN, detailing its history and work in the South and Appalachia. Founded by Don West and Myles Horton in 1932 as a training facility for southern labor union organizers, Highlander ran a school to train union workers to become better community leaders, established educational programs, distributed print resources, organized a cooperative, and kept alive the folk-singing and folk-dancing traditions of the Appalachian region. The rear wrapper solicits donations to the school, citing endorsements by Eleanor Roosevelt, Carey McWilliams, Frank Graham, and Senator Elbert D. Thomas. A scarce, early piece of wartime ephemera; not found in OCLC.
