Sobre este artículo

New York: Harper & Brothers Publishers, 1910 . First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed. 7.5" by 5". None. A well presented first edition of this Western adventure by American author Zane Grey. First edition, in the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding.Written by American author and dentist Pearl Zane Grey, who was best known for his popular adventure novels and tales associated with the Wild West. He admired greatly the American frontier, having a huge influence on his writing. This particular work is set in the desert, in Western America, telling the tale of John Hare. The story opens with Hare almost dying in the desert, until he is saved by the generous rancher, August Naab. Naab and his family nurse Hare back to health, resulting in him falling for Naab's adopted daughter, Mescal. With a frontispiece of Hare and Mescal. Collated, complete. With an ink inscription to Francis D. Childs from Vernon, dated Dec 25 1910. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities and the odd mark to cloth. A touch of fading to the spine. Ink inscription to front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good Indeed

Sinopsis

From the book:BUT the man's almost dead. The words stung John Hare's fainting spirit into life. He opened his eyes. The desert still stretched before him, the appalling thing that had overpowered him with its deceiving purple distance. Near by stood a sombre group of men. Leave him here, said one, addressing a gray-bearded giant. "He's the fellow sent into southern Utah to spy out the cattle thieves. He's all but dead. Dene's out-laws are after him. Don't cross Dene." The stately answer might have come from a Scottish Covenanter or a follower of Cromwell. Martin Cole, I will not go a hair's-breadth out of my way for Dene or any other man. You forget your religion. I see my duty to God.

Reseñas

El Apr 9 2020, un lector dijo:
John Hare has come west to regain his health and to find his place in life only to be branded "Dene's spy" and becomes a hunted man. For me is the best western Zane Grey ever wrote. Combines all that one has come to know in the genre.
