Sobre este artículo
Baton Rouge: Louisiana State University Press, (1966). First edition. Collection of 16 essays including one on "the making and meaning of one of the author's own novels, THE VELVET HORN." Foreword by Allen Tate. RAMBLINGLY INSCRIBED (covering most of the title page and with a few crossed out false starts), "To Walter and Jane/ Sullivan-/ old and dear friends-/ from Iowa until/ they see me in/ that bright and circular light,/ happily disposed/ if possible,/ when we may resume/ elsewhere/ Andrew Lytle/ Monteagle/ [The?] log Cabin/ 1986." (Reading the inscription, one does wonder if there might have been drinks involved.) Walter Sullivan (1924-2006) studied under Lytle at the Iowa Writer's Workshop before becoming an author, critic, longtime Vanderbilt University professor, authority on Southern literature, and -- along with Lytle -- one of the founding members of The Fellowship of Southern Writers. His wife, Jane Harrison Sullivan (1923-2022), taught English literature at Aquinas College. 8vo salmon cloth boards lettered in black on spine; 239 pages. Fine in near fine dust jacket with just a touch of light edge rubbing. A relatively scarce book, especially so signed.
