Amstelodami [Amsterdam], typis ludovici &: Danielis Elzeviriorum, 1657-58. 2 vols. 8vo. pp. [iv], 341; [xx], 259. Greek text with Latin translation facing; commentary by Lambertus Barlaeus in the second volume. The text volume was first issued in 1657 with 8 preliminary leaves; it was reissued with the second volume and a further 3 preliminary leaves in 1658. Here the 1657 title page has been retained along with the prelims for vol II (to avoid duplication). Only Daniel Heinsius’ epigram on Hesiod (*8 in vol II) remains in vol I, following the title. Closed tear to A2 and repair to lower corner of A5 in vol I; short marginal tear (without loss) to B3-4 in vol II; occasional faint underlining in pencil. Early 20th century red gilt-ruled calf, rubbed to extrems, a.e.g. Old ownership signatures of P. Vance Smith and 20th century book labels of Robert A.N. Petrie, partially removed. See Willems 1216 and 1229 Book
