These works are two of a series of publications based on original material and sources relating to president Abraham Lincoln, assembled and edited by scholar Emanuel Hertz (1870-1940). During the early 20th century, Hertz had assembled the largest private collection of material relating to Lincoln, comprising as many of 4,000 previously unknown items, and release publications on the subject starting in 1924. "The Hidden Lincoln" collects vast amounts of documents relating to Lincoln, by his former law partner and latter biographer William Henry Herndon (1818 - 1891). "Lincoln Talks" assembles from various firsthand accounts of Lincoln.
