[4], xiv, 12, [2] p., 12 leaves of photogravure plates: in-text illustrations and 1 full page of illustrations; 44 cm. Grey cloth spine; card covers printed in black. In Ireland, the High Crosses marked sanctuaries, under the invocation of certain saints, and offered protection to a fugitive who sought shelter there. This publication focuses on those crosses at Castledermot Monastery and at Durrow. Scarce. In Very Good- Condition: cover is lightly soiled; shadow on front cover; chipping along cover edges; lacking upper corner of back cover; front cover is partially detached from tail; minor chipping along fore-edge of several plates; pages and plates are clean and bright.
