Sobre este artículo

Jefferson, North Carolina USA: Mc Farland & Company, Inc., 1993. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. !st Edition, no printings listed. Orange linen cloth with black print on front cover and spine. 243 pp. Unclipped original price. Inscribed by author. Inlaid is a note to the owner from a niece or nephew about the author's health ("Uncle Bernie") to the book's owner. The book appears almost new aside from soft spine tail bending from resting on a shelf. Dust jacket with a tiny tears (approximately 2mm) at spine ends. Some wear to jacket at spine ends and corner tips coating. Coating scuffing near fore edge. Paper clip imprint on jacket flap. The book paints a positive image of Colonel Ernest Miller, who was the author's commanding officer, and some of the Japanese soldiers and civilians. In contrast, he portrays General Arthur MacArthur as incompetent and uncaring. While imprisoned he met the Smothers Brothers father who died as a prisoner, and after the end of the war told them about their father. An informative read about the long Batan March and life as a prisoner of war during World War II.
