Sobre este artículo

Chicago, IL: Advance Publishing Co., 1898. 1st Edition 2nd Printing. Soft cover. Fair. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Softcover, published by the correct and first publisher of this famous title. The author had originally signed an agreement with Advance Publishing Company out of Chicago but due to an error in the copyright registering the book was quickly snatched up and other publishers put out various editions without any agreement (or payments) to Rev. Sheldon. Chicago's Advance Publishing editions are the only true first and authorized editions. This copy is a softcover, showing the publication date of 1898 with the copyright page stating the first printing of 1897. The softcover editions, as were most paperback books printed in this era, was produced on paper not meant to last 100+ years. The paper is toned and brittle with corner and edge chipping present on scattered pages. There are no handwriting, signatures, or bookplates present. Some spotting is present, including on the outside edges of the pages. Cover shows spotting and exterior spine shows edge tearing. The rear cover is detached - which is why this book received a low condition grade of fair. Book has been placed in a archival storage bag to prevent any additional condition issues.

Yesterday's Book Shop (Member IOBA)

Purchases will ship by US Media Mail or Priority Mail (if buyer selects) and higher priced items may have insured placed on the order and will typically ship within one business day. Additional postage may be required for multiple volume books or books weighing over 5 lbs., but only in unusual cases. Insurance is available upon request though we normally place insurance on any item of $75 or higher at no additional cost to the buyer. Non-US sales will ship by First Class International or Global Priority. Additional postage may be required for multiple volume books or books weighing over 4 lbs.

We always take extra care in packaging and shipping. Books are typically wrapped in packing paper or bubblewrap before packaged in a sturdt shipping box. All orders, even those shipped by US Media Mail, will be given a USPS tracking number which will be sent to the buyer so they will know when to expect arrival. Please let us know if there is a book with incorrect or missing photos. We recently moved the inventory to Biblio and a title or two may have had issues with the photos being transferred over.

Yesterday's Book shop is owned and operated by a disabled veteran. Due to my limitations, I often have to rely on speech-to-text software to list the books. If the description has typos ("and pages" instead of "end pages", pace downs instead of pastedowns, guilt instead of gilt, etc,) PLEASE let me know so I can correct the listing. The software spells words by phonetics and can make errors that I may not catch.

There is a 30 day money back guarantee if the book arrives damaged or is not as described. Please contact us prior if you have any issues with your purchases and we will make sure you are taken care of.

Sobre Yesterday's Book Shop (Member IOBA)

Yesterday's Book Shop is an independent, family-owned establishment. The store first opened in 1966 under the name Collector's Corner and was located in Western Maryland. The Collector's Corner dealt mainly in books but also sold stamps and assorted ephemera. In 1975 the name was changed to Yesterday's Book Shop when the store only offered books and printed matter. In the early 2000s the brick and mortar store was closed and now we only sell online.

All of the book pictures were taken at the time the book was listed and we never use generic or stock photos in any listing. If you would like additional photos or information on any listing please let us know and we will be more than happy to comply.
