First volume - "Histoire Du Consulat" and Histire De l'Empire in 4 volumes. 602; 737, 683, 723, 726 pp. Each illustrated with 70 half page woodcut engravings. Uniformly bound in quarter grained red leather and red pebbled cloth sides. Text printed in two columns. Table of plates appended at rear of each volume. Leather sucffed and rubbed over spine ends and joints; light fray to cloth at corner tips and superficial silverfish scaling at board edges. Endpages a little toned. An old book store sticker top corner rear endpage each volume. All edges gilt; contents bright and neat. Still attractive shelf presence. Prior ownership of Stephen Lewis Courtauld with his copperplate engraved bookplate from a design by Stephen Gooden mounted to front pastedown each volume. VG- ...
