[204] pp., densely written in dark brown ink, on faintly lined paper, with numerous carefully drawn illustrations of machinery used in spinning, carding and weaving, together with some weaving patterns. The text illustrations are sometimes heightened in colors, and a few small illustrations are pasted in. In addition, there are some nine onlays of sketches of machinery on india paper. Some light edgewear, additional notes on front pastedown. Very good condition. A fascinating manual of the state of these crafts at the time, with comments on methods of production and the nature of the current industry. Discusses the spinning jenny, the Heilmann cotton combing machine, worsted wool, kinds of bobbins and spindles, etc.

A rare poster advertising Embrace the Base, one of the key mass actions at the Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp. We have been able to locate only two other copies in institutional collections, at the LSE Women's Library and the Glasgow Women's Library. Roger Long was an 18th-century English astronomer from Cambridge. While little is known of his life, he is certainly best-known for his book 'Astronomy' – a thorough treatise studying all aspects of astronomy. In this treatise, Long covers the surface and phases of the moon, planetary orbits, the rings of Saturn, comets and meteors, behavior of sunlight, the zodiac and astrological signs, as well as the importance of astronomy on navigation.
While the contents of this book are extensive, the full-page and folding engravings set this work apart from other astronomy texts of this era.

Voltaire was a versatile and prolific writer, producing works in almost every literary form, including plays, poems, novels, essays, and historical and scientific works. He wrote thousands of books and letter and frequently made use of his works to criticize intolerance, religious dogma, and the French institutions of his day.
This enormous set of 60 volumes was published in Kehl and contains many of Voltaire's most famous works. It also contains his physics studies and correspondence, much of which had never been published.

[London, 1810. Square manuscript notebook, 7.75" x 6.5"; pp. 20 plus a number of blank pages; seven finely executed illustrations in pen and ink, depicting the solar system, movement of sun spots, the surface of the moon, and so on; paper wrappers, manuscript title on upper cover; wrappers detached, textblock clean and sound, very good. This piece of academic juvenilia is notable mostly for the well-made manuscript illustrations, which are attractive and well done, and augment what otherwise appears to be basic and derivative text, described as being "extracted from different authors." Its creator, Richard Henry Horne, was born in London and educated in Sandhurst, after which he had a short career as a sailor, and later as prolific author, playwright, and commissioner for the Australian territorial government. His most well-known title was Orion, an Epic Poem in Ten Books.
