Ex-libri s the Stendahl Art Gallery, Los Angeles. This volume was a well- used reference copy in the gallery’s reference library, hence t he rough condition. Until its recent closure, the Stendahl Galler y was one of America's oldest continuously operating private art galleries. Art from the Stendahl collections found a home in The Louvre and many other major institutions throughout the world. U pon closing the gallery, the family donated a significant collect ion of photographs and documentation to the Getty Research Instit ute. .
