Front free endsheet in first and second volumes excised, an occasional trace of foxing, first several leaves in first volume dampstained in margin. Else a very nice, crisp set. The first French edition, a translation of the English edition of 1759, of this classic history of California, originally published in 1757 in Spanish. Wagner states that the work "contains more on Lower California than almost any other book that had been published in one hundred and fifty years." The map depicts California. HOWES V69, "aa."
