Title page in black and red. All edges rouged. Pages and engravings are clean and bright. Bound in contemporary full calf with five gilt and raised bands and extensive decoration to the five compartments of the spine and a red spine label with gilt title to one compartment. Wear to the spine and to the edges, a little more to the top edge of the front board. Spine a little weak around page 202 with some loosening of a few leaves. An excellent copy of the self-contained second volume of Helyot's important work on the history, habits and dress of the religious and knightly orders up to the early 18th Century. Highly illustrated with 119 engravings depicting the habits of more than 100 of the most notable religious and knightly orders (male and female) up to that time, including St. Sepulcre, St. Victor, Norbertines, and various Hospitallers, Knights and Orders in England and Ireland.
