Sobre este artículo

Frankfurt an der Oder: Johann Eichorn. Good with no dust jacket. 1577. First Edition. Half-Leather. [12] [2] ff; 142; [6] ff, 145-302 ff; [10], 139, [1], [8],136, [1] ff. Occasional erratic page numbering but catches and signatures agree, everything is present and in the proper spot. In 4 parts, each part with its own title page. Thick folio, 12.25" in handsome binding with modern leather spine with raised bands and gilt stamping in the compartments, dark brown morocco label, antique marbled heavy boards with a bit of rubbing to the corners. Interior has old reinforcement at gutters and end papers renewed a century ago with ink ownership inscription. Engraved first title page with some old markings, title page engraving shows various worthies coming to the Augsburg Diet. Mostly in Latin, although 151-168 are in black letter German. Wide margin paper, browned overall, a few pages have old neat repairs in the top margin, but otherwise clean and sturdy. USTC 663037 Celestin was a German Lutheran theologian from Plauen who wrote a history of the Augsburg Diet and Confession held in the year 1530, including the principles of religious deliberation, counsels and answers, " the means of peace and concord between the papists, the Epistles, the gospels." Includes letters from Melanchthon, Luther, Johan Brentium and many others. Quite scarce, only one copy recorded at auction in the last 50 years, and only 3 copies in North American libraries, this one very handsomely and impressively bound by a master binder. ; Folio 13" - 23" tall .
