Wepfer was the first to analyze the pharmacological effect of hemlock and its poison. In this treatise 1679 the author also reports the discovery of the duodenal glands.

Spines have five raised bands, red morocco title labels, compartments ornately decorated in gilt. Some marking and slight worming to boards. Spines rubbed with slight wear to head and foot. A couple of volumes have slight cracking to joints but all boards are firmly attached. Gilt decorated board edges and turn-ins. All page edges gilt, marbled endpapers. Cornelius Cornelii a Lapide was a 16th-century Flemish Jesuit theological writer known for his commentaries on books of Bible. He wrote allegorical and topographical sketches on both Old and New Testament books, commentaries that are highly valued amongst Jesuit circles. His commentaries have been heavily edited and revised throughout the centuries following his death.
This volume is a fine 1669 commentary on the Bible books of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther as well as Apocryphal books of Tobit and Maccabees.

The cover of this book has much wear. A binding was added later as well as pads for the corner's of the book. the previous owners names are written on the inside of the front cover and on the top of the third blank page. The pages are yellowing and tanning. The edges of most of the pages are worn. This book is in good condition. The cover has some light wear and the corners are definitely worn. The previous owner's name is written on the inside of the front cover and his seal is affixed to the front cover. The pages are clear of any markings crisp and white.
