Sobre este artículo

Worcester: Dorr, Howland & Co., 1840. The early days of Middlesex County, Massachusetts, and its various towns and townships, are recalled through a mixture of colorful tales and factual data in this NEW 101 Page Booklet, reprinted primarily from the 1839 edition of Historical Collections of Massachusetts by John Warner Barber. The spiral-bound booklet is printed on 60# paper, with the print enlarged for easier reading. Clear vinyl sheets have been added to protect the covers. INSERTED IN THE BOOKLET is a copy of the Map of Massachusetts which accompanied the Barber book. The map is printed in black ink on natural parchtex paper. The communities mentioned include: Acton, Ashby, Bedford, Billerica, Boxborough, Brighton, Burlington, Cambridge, Carlisle, Charlestown, Chelmsford, Concord, Dracut, Dunstable, East Cambridge, Framingham, Groton, Holliston, Hopkinton, Lexington, Lincoln, Littleton, Lowell, Malden, Marlborough, Medford, Natick, Newton, Pepperell, Reading, Saxonville, Sherburne, Shirley, South Reading, Stoneham, Stow, Sudbury, Tewksbury, Townsend, Tyngsborough, Waltham, Watertown, Wayland, West Cambridge, Weston, Wilmington, Woburn. When Paul Revere rode thru every "Middlesex" village and farm (I'm glad to finally know what that meant!), this is where he rode, so the area is seeped in history. Among the many and diverse subjects in the booklet are: Early Settlers, Indian uprisings, Brighton Cattle Fair, Harvard University, the Washington Elm in Cambridge, Dr. Spurzheim, the celebrated phrenologist, McLean Asylum, the State prison, the U.S. Navy Yard, the Mob Burning of Ursuline Convent in 1834, a detailed account of the Battle of Bunker Hill, the Praying Indians, the British at Concord and Lexington, a Mysterious Epidemic in Holliston, a Controversy between a Minister and his Flock, the Fast Growth of Lowell, the Lord's Prayer in an Indian Language, Unusual Laws, and many other interesting bits of history and trivia. . Limited Edition Reprint Leavenworth. Spiral/Comb. New/No Jacket. 8.5" x 11". Private Press.
