Washington City: Published by the Editor, T.H. Palmer, 1814 First edition. 3 volumes (of 4). Pp. x, 164, 226 + [3], iii, 132, 351 + vi, 246, 328. Contemporary three-quarter red leather, marbled boards, gilt. Boards slightly rubbed, but a fine and clean copy. An invaluable compendium of statistics, documents, first- hand battle accounts, economic reports, etc., pertaining to the War of 1812. The first volume commences with a "Review of the Political Institutions of the United States," and covers the first two Congressional sessions held after the declaration of war; the second volume covers events from the declaration of war to the beginning of 1814, with official historical documents; the third volume covers events of the year 1814, plus historical documents. A fourth volume was published in 1816 (not present here) to cover the end of the war (Jan. 1815). [Howes I: P-53; Howes II: P-53; Sabin: 32076]..

The Argonaut Book Shop was founded in 1941 in the middle of the financial district of San Francisco. The Argonaut was a founding member of the Antiquarian Booksellers\' Association of America and has been a member in good standing ever since. The Shop is now located just three blocks from Union Square in downtown San Francisco and is open six days a week. Parking facilities include ample street space and a parking garage close by.
