James Butterworth's guides to Rochester and Saddleworth are individually paginated, with each part bearing an engraved frontispiece and letterpress title page. Despite their individual pagination, they were published as a single work.With the inscription 'Mr William Eastwood's Book' to the recto of a front blank.Rebound, with endpapers removed.With an index to the rear.A very scarce guide to two towns in the early nineteenth century: Rochdale in Lancashire, and Saddleworth in York. Rebound in cloth backed paper covered boards, with endpapers renewed. Contemporary inscription to the recto of a front blank. Externally, fine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages significantly age toned, with handling marks and the odd spot throughout. Small closed tears to fore edges of leaves. Very Good

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
