A Gppd set. 12mo., [Vol.1] xix, 377; [Vol.2] viii, 445 pp., illustrated with 8 plates, a folding map, and 3 plans. Bound in the publisher's black cloth. The boards have edge wear, with tips rubbed, and lacking the backstrip(s). Volume 2 has a brown cloth tape reinforcing its spine; additionally, tape repairs at the half title page and last end paper. Vol. 1 is lacking the first end paper. Scattered foxing throughout. A Good set, possibly a candidate for rebinding. Howes P-346 aa *** The second edition was published the same year as the first, with identical collation. "Essential work on the Deep South"-Howes ***.
