Map illustrated end pages, both different, the front end page showing Europe, the Near East and India before 1400; and, the rear end page showing Europe after 1400. Blue coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured embossed publisher's logo to the front panel and gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Illustrated dustwrapper with white coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. This book was first published in 1962, and has since that time been revised and updated on numerous occasions. The title says it all. All rubbing of the book edges with a little fading to the top edges. Some fading to the lower back strip edge. Light browning of the text block edges and age toning of the pages. A little rubbing of the dustwrapper edges and panels with fading of the back strip.
