This history 'concentrates on those events which have helped make Australians what they are and aware of what they mightr be. It is an attempt to impose an order on the chaos. It is one man's vision of the past, one man's answer to the Hilda Esson question, can we do anything ourselves as Australians'. All volumes of the work are in good condition apart from some rubbing to the lower books edges and age toning of the text block edges and a little to the pages. Volumes 1, 3, 5,  are a little rubbed on the edges and panels with varying degrees of fading of the back strip  please see photograph. Volumes 2, 4 & 6  have the results of insect activity (again to varying degrees volume 6 is the most affected) with the usual deprecation is on the fold over edges and the edges of the front panel of volume 6.
