Two volumes. Roy. 8vo. Recent half calf, marbled boards, raised bands, gilt titles on black & crimson leather labels. New endpapers. The Land Birds is dated 1797 but is the 2nd. edition (Roscoe 15A). The Water Birds is the first edition (Roscoe 17B, variant B). Volume 1. Pp. xxvi + 335. Some light discolouring to the endpapers, title page and 2 pages of the preface. The text has only very occasional spots of light foxing. A previous owner has lightly ticked species seen in pencil. Volume 2. Pp. xvi + 400. Endpapers are discoloured. Otherwise very occasional spots of light foxing. A very good set in an attractive binding.
