8vo. Two volumes. Quarter calf, marbled boards and page edges, gilt titles, gilt decorated spines (birds at nest), new endpapers. Land Birds: Pp. xxxix + xxxvi + 374 + xi (an appendix with an extra 14 cuts of foreign birds). Water Birds: Pp. xxiii 406. This edition was produced under the supervision of John Hancock and has by far the best prints of Bewick's engravings. A fine set.
