London: John Van Voorst, 1846. Book. Very good- condition. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). First Edition. Octavo (8vo). xlvi, 561 pages of text including an index and an errata page. Original hardcover cloth binding has chipping to the spine extremities, and a small bump to the top of the spine. Includes a one-page letter handwritten and signed by the author, written to the publisher, dated November 15 1843, with the maroon seal with monogram intact. The first and final few pages are foxed. Previous owner's name "A. Harrison White" neatly at the top margin of the title page, and the text presumably with his red pencil underlining, notations and marginalia scattered throughout the text. Contains fold-out charts, and 236 in-text illustrations. First edition..
