New York: Harper and Brothers, 1843. Three volumes. Two double-page maps and a facsimile of Cortés' signature. Half titles. Portraits. Folding maps. Original publisher's cloth. Some minor foxing, wear to extremities, slight chipping at head and toe of spine. Overall a very good set. The first American edition, second (corrected) printing, of Prescott's classic work. In his first contract outside his home city of Boston, Prescott negotiated the publication in New York of 5000 copies of this work.
