Sobre este artículo

London: Lawrence & Bullen, Limited,, 1904-08. With profuse illustrations First editions, first impressions, attractively bound and luxuriously illustrated. Since publication, the division of English furniture periods into the ages of Oak, Walnut, Mahogany, and Satinwood has became a standard of the field. Percy Macquoid (1852-1925) was an illustrator, a stage designer, and a frequent contributor to Country Life magazine. He later co-authored with Ralph Edwards a Dictionary of English Furniture (3 vols, 1925-27). Much of Macquoid's collection of English furniture now resides at Preston Manor in Brighton, following the 1939 Macquoid Bequest. Four volumes, folio (370 x 271 mm). Contemporary blue half morocco, blue cloth sides, titles and twin rules to spines in gilt. With 60 colour plates and captioned tissue guards after Shirley Slocombe, prolific half-tones after photographs, title pages printed in red and black with black vignettes. Very faint sunning to spines, cloth somewhat rubbed, foxing to edges and endpapers, contents largely unaffected and clean, illustrations bright. A very good set.
