THE AGE OF MAHOGANY: Red, gilt-embossed cloth. 271 pp. 15 color, 254 bw plates. THE AGE OF WALNUT: Red, gilt-embossed cloth. 247 pp. 15 color, 223 bw plates. Color plates have tissue guards. Together, a very nice, uniform, and useful set. Each book measures 11.5" x 15.2", and the set will require extra shipping. Macquoid was the first to write an exhaustive survey of the history of English furniture, and he was a collector as well, especially of 17th- and 18th-century English furniture.
