Sobre este artículo

Whittington Press, Andoversford, first edition, 1984. One of 20 specially-bound copies in full morocco, from an edition limited to 220. Original blue morocco, gilt, top edge gilt, others uncut, 29 cm,. 51 pp. tipped-in specimens, 2 facsimile broadsides in pocket at end. From the introduction: "The Marlborough College Press was founded in 1934 and this account marks its jubilee. It has been written as a series of articles by former members. The Press is notable for some fine pieces of printing; for a stream of ephemeral work; for giving hundreds of boys, and some girls, an insight into one of our civilising crafts; and it has launched a fair number of Marlburians into careers in printing, publishing, paper, advertising, and television. It was founded in the traditions of the private press movement, and developed at one time into a small commercial business; but it now takes its place among numerous school activities." Contents: Introduction; Foundation and the Thirties, 1934-1940 by Richard Russell; Development in the Forties, 1940-1950 by Richard Russell; The Early Fifties, 1950-1955 by Paul Griffin; The Commercial Era, 1955-1960 by James Stanley and Peter Vacher; The Jobbing Era, 1960-1970 by Nicholas Manby Brown; The Seventies and on, 1970-1984 by Charles Graham Page; Appendix: Assistant Masters in Charge of the Press, Masters of the Chapel and Senior Printers; Bibliography (covering the Press' publications of 8 pages or more and including the number of copies where known ). Copy No. VII. Spine slightly darkened, some blemishes to leather small scuffs and indentations) and area of slight darkening to rear board, contents Fine in a Near Very Good slipcase with slight fading and minor marks.

Sobre Wykeham Books

We specialize chiefly in "books about books", the emphasis being on historical aspects of book collecting, production and distribution. A particular speciality is in bibliographies, of all subjects of interest to collectors, dealers and scholars, with several thousand bibliography titles in stock. Other strengths include extensive holdings of auction catalogues for book sales and a good selction of reference material on and facsimiles of illuminated manuscripts. We also have a special interest in rare material by or about Rudyard Kipling.
