One of 520 numbered copies. Lescarbot (1570-1630?) was a French lawyer and writer who accepted an invitation to spend the winter of 1606-7 in Port Royal, New Acadia. This work begins with an account of French exploration in North and South America and includes a comparative study of the Indians of both continents with the other peoples of the world. He includes his account of his winter in Acadia and writes of the manners and customs of the Indians of northeastern America.
