Sobre este artículo

Philadelphia: Charles Lawrence, 1905. Hardcover. Very Good. "Covering a Period of Nearly Two Hundred Years: showing the mode of distributing public relief through the management of the boards of Overseers of the Poor, Guardians of the Poor and the directors of the Department of Charities and Correction." 398 p., frontispiece and 20 leaves of plates; 24 cm. Olive green cloth with gilt-stamped spine and cover titles. Endpapers with light green floral pattern. Former owner Thomas N. Haviland's name written on front free endpaper and bookplate on front fixed endpaper. Inscription on front fixed endpaper indicating that someone, possibly Haviland, purchased the book at Leary's Bookstore, in Philadelphia, in 1954. Thomas N. Haviland (d. 1986) in the late 1930s was the museum curator at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathy. In the 1950s he was the curator at the Wistar Institute; after his death it was discovered that he had relieved that Institute of items that were later found in his storage unit. He also taught a course in veterinary history beginning in 1960 at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, where in 1973 he became Associate Professor of Anatomy. In Very Good Condition: ends of spine and corners rubbed; small ding in center of spine; late 20th-century cloth repair of both hinges; clean and tight.
