Very Good. 8vo, publisher's embossed charcoal black cloth, gilt stamped on spine, very good, light wear to binding, ownership signature of William G. Johnston on pastedown in ink and again on title page in pencil; he was an important printer and publisher in Pittsburgh and is famous for having organized a trip to California during the Gold Rush of 1849 and publishing an autobiographical account of it; excellent association copy, with a few notes to text by Johnston about a relative of his who was a clockmaker in the region. With two folding maps. 312 pp.
