Spines faded, labels toned with some wear, some pages foxed, minor loss from volume 1 spine base. 1894 Hard Cover. Complete in seven volumes, a mixed set of original and revised editions. Volumes 6 and 7 update the material in volumes 1-5 to the years 1901 and 1910, respectively. Because there was such a large gap between the publication dates of the original set and these supplements, complete sets are more difficult to obtain. Color maps, black-and-white maps and plans, logical outlines in color, chronological tables, numerous appendices. This work has two aims: to represent and exhibit the better Literature of History in the English language, and to give it an organized body - a system - adapted to the greatest convenience in any use, whether for reference, or for reading, for teacher, student, or casual inquirer.
