Contemporary treed calf bindings. Boards detached and spine labels missing. Text blocks are in lovely condition - bright, supple and clean with no toning or foxing. Binder's error/s result in the following: pages xvii - xix from contnets of Vol I misplaced at rear of Vol II, along with the terminal two leaves of Vol I (497-98) and a misplaced page of publisher's ads misplaced rear of vol II instead of Vol III. Binding of Vol II concludes thus: to page 470/ 497-8 of Vol I/ xix of contents Vol I/ 471-73 of V II/ leaf of publisher ads/ xvii-xviii from contents V I. All printed pages called for are present. Two of six boards have an area of skinning to the surface. Some shallow chipping to leather surfaces at spine ends. Still could be restored in current bindings with a relatively inexpensive rebacking. Contents NF but bindings only Fair. ... Oversize book likely to require additional charges for expedited or international shipping. .
