Brick-brown cloth with black stamped rules on front and back panels; gilt lettering on spine. Three portraits printed on stiffer card bound in, including one of Dunshee, author of the historical review which constitutes the first portion of the volume. A few small historical engravings in opening documentary pages. Tipped in fold-out map of lower Manhattan precedes textblock.
Boards worn at edges and sides of spine; top of spine is missing about 1/4 inch of cloth. Spine rolled. Previous owner's name on front free endpaper and erasure mark on front left endpaper. Initial fold-out map repaired at some point with tape; has additional small, unrepaired tear. Back hinges splitting, Binding starting to crack after first third of textblock. Pages evenly tanned but no sign of foxing. Last page has newspaper clippings covering school's anniversary celebrations pasted in.
The textual history of the school--"the oldest school in New York"--fills pages 1-96. The remaining 180+ pages are tables and lists of enrollees, leaders, scholars, etc., with a final section of addresses given during various anniversary and alumni gatherings.
