Appears to have two identical facsimile title pages tipped in (consequently lacking the original title; the frontis is NOT in facsimile). The text has some moderate foxing throughout. An early owner's blind stamped name is on the first page of the text. There is a folding newspaper article pasted onto the rear pastedown. Collates complete with all illustrations, including the frontis. A scarce volume of 19th century humor looking at the people and stories of Surry County, North Carolina. Hardcover bound in early quarter leather with green and tan marbled paper-covered boards. The binding is rubbed and worn but sound. The leather spine is solid. Rubbing along the edges of the binding, and the corners are bumped and worn to the boards beneath. Hinges secure. Complete with 2 front and 2 rear flyleaves. The text is tone and has occasional foxing or staining but overall is quite acceptable. Text is in German. This work does NOT contain scored music. A rough translation of the title is, "Spiritual Songs: With an Appendix, Consisting of Spiritual and Comforting Songs, by Various Poets." A nice early 19th Century Harrisburg, Pennsylvania imprint.

The binding is rubbed and bumped but sound. Hinges are just a little rubbed but sound and secure. Complete with flyleaves; no owner's inscriptions. Some spotting to the endpapers. The text is toned. A decent copy.

The binding is quite worn and stained but sound. There is a 2 inch tear on the right side of the headcap at the top of the spine. Rear hinge is starting, and the binding is a bit shaken. All edges gilt. A sound copy with secure hinges. Text is clean. tipped in color frontis. Illustrated throughout with black and white photos. SIgned on the half title by William Lanier Hunt. William Lanier Hunt (1906-1996) was the "Dean of Southern Horticulture." He donated land along the Morgan Creek in southern Orange County, NC to the North Carolina Botanical Garden and is now known as the Hunt Arboretum.
