Mark Twain's 'Diaries of Adam and Eve' are first-person memoirs that follow along from the beginning of creation, getting to know each other, and their final days on earth after 'the fall'.

'Adam's Diary', first published in 1904, was Twain's comedic and satirical take on the Book of Genesis. It was filled with illustrations by Strothmann; however, most of them were considered pornographic in nature when it was first published in the United States.

Hardcover navy blue cloth with gilt, no dust jacket as issued. A historical account of the Sioux uprising of 1862-3 in southern Minnesota and nearby Dakota Territory. Published as part of the Lakeside Press Centennial series of the Civil War. The author was a teacher at a mission school in a Sioux village. The book was originally published in 1863.

Includes details of life in Litchfield County in the mid to late nineteenth century, including farming, the experience of having a home burnt to the ground (whereupon she was sent to her grandparents' in Goshen until the home was rebuilt), about travel to New Haven, marriage at age eighteen to live with her new husband's family, of hard work and little pleasure, of loss of a child, of illness, of a new war reminding one of the sorrows left by the Civil War. Eisenhower adopted the military model, which emphasizes the importance of the Chief of Staff in handling all of the paperwork and preliminary decisions. With rare exceptions, anyone who spoke with Eisenhower had to have Adams' prior approval. Adams took his role as Chief of Staff very seriously; with the exception of Cabinet members and certain NSC advisors, all requests for access to Eisenhower had to go through his office. He purchased his commission in 1839, was an Ensign by 1842, a captain in 1846 and Lt Colonel in 1854. He served at Alma, Balaclava and Inkemann, as well as at the Siege of Sebastapol. He received the Crimea Medal with 4 bars, and retired by sale in 1855. Died in 1887. 200 by 130mm (7¾ by 5 inches).
