Sobre este artículo

London: Collins, 1955-1958. First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed/Very Good. 8" by 5.5". None. Three smart first edition volumes from Scottish novelist, Alistair MacLean. Three volumes. First edition. Written by Alistair MacLean, a Scottish novelist of popular thrillers and adventure stories. This set includes the author's first three novels: H.M.S. Ulysses, 1955. The author's debut novel, inspired by his experiences in the Royal Navy during the Second World War. Featuring a light cruiser among the fastest ships in the world, which is being pushed too hard in the aftermath of a mutiny. The Guns of Navarone, 1957. Concerning the efforts of an Allied commando team to destroy a seemingly impregnable German fortress threatening Allied naval ships and preventing British Army soldiers from being rescued in the Aegean Sea. South by Java Head, 1958. Set in the immediate aftermath of the Battle of Singapore, following the British stronghold of Singapore as it falls to the invading Imperial Japanese Army. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities. A light mark to the front board of South by Java Head. Original dust wrappers are unclipped other than South by Java Head which has been price-clipped. Wrappers are smart with light wear and chipping to the extremities resulting in minor loss to the head of the spine of The Guns of Navarone and South by Java Head. Minor sunning to the spine and the odd spot to the panels. Light age toning to the paper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. Very Good Indeed
