Loosely inserted an addressed note inscribed in ink 'Lady Petre from the writer, Jan 19, 1910'. The address 22 Morpeth Mansions can be linked to Hervey through correspondence in the National Archives. This copy also with the Ex-Libris of 'Dr Roy Strong' on front pastedown. Important early work on the discovery of the subjects of Holbein's famous picture, namely Jean de Dinteville, French Ambassador in England and George de Selve, Bishop of Lavaur. xii, 256 pages, 16 unnumbered leaves of plates : illustrations, portraits, facsimiles ; 26 cm. First edition, first printing. Publisher's blue cloth boards, gilt top edge, shelf wear to edges, some foxing, tight and square binding. Photographs available on request. All books dispatched same or next working day in robust packaging.
