Sobre este artículo
London: Simpkin, Marshall, and Co, c1855 . Cloth. Very Good. 7" by 5". Not Stated. A very smart copy of Catherine Sinclair's children's novel about the siblings Laura, Harry, and Frank Graham, who live with their uncle and grandmother. A smart mid nineteenth century edition of this children's novel by Scottish novelist Catherine Sinclair, a children's writer credited with discovering that the author of the initially anonymous Waverley Novels was Sir Walter Scott.Illustrated with a hand coloured frontispiece and title page.Sinclair's novels were notable for the moralising approach that was common to children's literature during the period. With the inscription of Mary Anne Aubrey Boulton, dated Jan 29th 1862, to the verso of the front free endpaper. Mary Anne - sometimes Marianne - was the daughter of amateur scientist and an inventor Matthew Piers Watt Boulton, best known for his invention of the aileron, a primary aeronautical flight control device.First published in 1839, this copy is dated c1855 via publisher information. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to spine head and tail, with discolouration to back strip. Rear hinge strained but firmly held. Inscription to front pastedown and verso of front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Very Good
