Sobre este artículo
Unmarked interior. Tight, square spine. There is some light foxing to the edges and toning to the pages. Moderate wear to the cover, including some areas of creasing and light edge-wear. First published in Paris in 1959 by J.J. Pauvert as Hollywood Babylone. The true first edition in English of this classic, published by the shadowy APS a full ten years before the Straight Arrow Press oversized edition finally hit the shelves. Anger had adapted the design for a mass market format, retaining the decadent title-page typography of the Pauvert edition, adding a brief gloss (Babel: 'a structure impossibly lofty', 'a visionary scheme', 'a place or scene of noise or confusion') and Americanizing the cover's tabloid aesthetic. Anger made his film debut at the age of 8 as the Changeling Prince in a Warner Brothers adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream and would later remark, 'I was a child prodigy who never got smarter.' 271 pp.
Sinopsis
Hollywood Babylon is a book by avant-garde filmmaker Kenneth Anger which details the sordid scandals of many famous and infamous Hollywood denizens from the 1900s to the 1950s. First published in the US in 1965, it was banned ten days later and would not be republished until 1975. Upon its second release, the New York Times said of it, "If a book such as this can be said to have charm, it lies in the fact that here is a book without one single redeeming merit."
