Cooperstown, NY: H. & E. Phinney, 1825. Hardcover. Good. An early issue of the Phinney quarto stereotype edition first printed in 1822. This volume includes the Apocrypha, and nine plates: Creation (frontispiece); Abraham and the Three Angels; The Two Spies; Samuel Anointing David; Josiah Destroying the Idols; The Church Comforted with Promises; Daniel in the Lions' Den; Virgin Mary and Child (NT frontispiece); Christ's Agony. The Bible measures 9 x 11 1/4 x 3 inches. The boards show edgewear and are protected by a contemporary vellum covering held together by string inside the covers. The binding is good (a few pages are loose but holding) There is extensive foxing in the text. Four leaves of family records have been filled out.
