Sobre este artículo

London, England: Amalgamated Press, 1909. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, brown cloth boards with gilt text on spine. Exterior shows some scuffing and spotting along with edge and corner wear. The front board has an area in the upper right where the cloth is starting to pull away from the backing. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No hinge issues, no library markings, no signatures or bookplates. Only evidence of handwriting found is on the front and page where something was penciled in the upper right corner and then later erased (mostly). This is a bound edition of the Home Chat magazine, which was published as a woman's weekly magazine covering such things as society gossip and domestic tips along with short stories, dress patterns, recipes and competitions. The book begins with the December 5, 1908 issue with the page number starting at 561. This numbering ends at December 12, 1908 with page number 688. The numbering starts again on the December 19, 1908 issue with page 1 and ends at page 624 for the March 13, 1909 issue. One of the editors was Maud Brown in the articles show various authors and artists including the serial story "A Little Imposter" by Esther Miller. There are also numerous comics and humorous stories for young girls such as the series Jungle Jinks, Tibbie and Smut (the story of two little kittens who stole the cream), Tippy and Tuppy and Tod. There are other articles such as Society Small Talk, Why I Am a Suffragist The Playbox, Christmas Hymns, The Young Mother, A Home-Made Muff, and many others. Pages also includes many early turn-of-the-century advertisements for everything from pleurisy to clothing to soup and other items catering to women of that timeframe. Pages are quite toned due to age and type of paper used. There is some spotting and foxing present, though nothing serious. There is no index in each edition starts with the text page so there are no magazine covers. It is not known if this was a private binding of the magazines or they were published this way, but this is a private copy and does not have any library references or anything like that.

Yesterday's Book Shop (Member IOBA)

Purchases will ship by US Media Mail or Priority Mail (if buyer selects) and higher priced items may have insured placed on the order and will typically ship within one business day. Additional postage may be required for multiple volume books or books weighing over 5 lbs., but only in unusual cases. Insurance is available upon request though we normally place insurance on any item of $75 or higher at no additional cost to the buyer. Non-US sales will ship by First Class International or Global Priority. Additional postage may be required for multiple volume books or books weighing over 4 lbs.

We always take extra care in packaging and shipping. Books are typically wrapped in packing paper or bubblewrap before packaged in a sturdt shipping box. All orders, even those shipped by US Media Mail, will be given a USPS tracking number which will be sent to the buyer so they will know when to expect arrival. Please let us know if there is a book with incorrect or missing photos. We recently moved the inventory to Biblio and a title or two may have had issues with the photos being transferred over.

Yesterday's Book shop is owned and operated by a disabled veteran. Due to my limitations, I often have to rely on speech-to-text software to list the books. If the description has typos ("and pages" instead of "end pages", pace downs instead of pastedowns, guilt instead of gilt, etc,) PLEASE let me know so I can correct the listing. The software spells words by phonetics and can make errors that I may not catch.

There is a 30 day money back guarantee if the book arrives damaged or is not as described. Please contact us prior if you have any issues with your purchases and we will make sure you are taken care of.

Sobre Yesterday's Book Shop (Member IOBA)

Yesterday's Book Shop is an independent, family-owned establishment. The store first opened in 1966 under the name Collector's Corner and was located in Western Maryland. The Collector's Corner dealt mainly in books but also sold stamps and assorted ephemera. In 1975 the name was changed to Yesterday's Book Shop when the store only offered books and printed matter. In the early 2000s the brick and mortar store was closed and now we only sell online.

All of the book pictures were taken at the time the book was listed and we never use generic or stock photos in any listing. If you would like additional photos or information on any listing please let us know and we will be more than happy to comply.
