Clean green marbled paper boards with bright yellow cloth spine, green decorative title box on spine. No bumping or fraying. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound. Previous owner name and date (1955) on front free endpaper. Pages are clean. Decorations by Lorraine Combs; translated by Leonard Cline. 319 pages. Dust jacket is not price clipped, has fading to spine, a few faint stains, closed edge tears; enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. A light novel about a festive outing at a Tokyo resort involving seven Japanese and a worldly Swiss diplomat in pursuit of amorous diversion. According to point of view, each sees the day's adventure in the light of irony, farce, whimsicality, high comedy, or tragedy. "A joyous and delightful satire.".
