Very Good+ in Very Good+ dust jacket; Hardcover; Small 8vo 7½" - 8" tall; Cupples & Leon Format II: mid to late 1940's, thinner blue or red cover, plain frontis, weave pattern on endpapers, poor quality paper, dust jacket with different symbol on spine for each mystery. Copyright date 1944, probable first, as book lists to self, eleven titles listed. Later Format II dust jacket with unique symbol on spine; 14 titles listed. Clean blue cover, firmly bound, sharp corners; showing light wear to spine ends, edges. Pages very clean, moderately browned .No names or markings. Tiny bookstore label from The Little Acorn Bookshop, Pawtucket, RI, at bottom of fep. Purple pictorial jacket, price 100-160 on flap; two shallow chips; wear at ends of spine; several short tears along top edge; moderate soil/smudging on back panel. Buy War Bonds promotional on back.
