Sobre este artículo
Penguin, London, 2005. Revised Edition. Softcover. Good Condition. Foreword to the second edition, foreword to the 1997 edition, foreword to the 2005 edition introduction by translator, notes, selected bibliography and index. Colour illustrated paperback binding with orange and white coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. In the first half of the book deals with Horace  both his satires and epistles, in the troubled decade ending with Augustus's regime; they provide both an amusing treatment of man's perennial enslavement to money, power and glory, then the difficulties of trying to achieve contentment in an urban setting, and, finally a critique of Latin poetry. Persius' satires are "... highly idiosyncratic, containing a courageous attack on the poetry and morals of his wealthy contemporaries  even the ruling Emperor, Nero."  from the rear panel blurb. Minor creasing of the book corners with rubbing of the book edges and panels. Age toning of the text block edges and pages. Ex-libris plate of previous owner affixed to the verso of the front panel. First edition of the work in this format and binding, and/or set or series. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 216, [6  further titles from publishing house]pages,.
