HB. 41 vols in 33, roy. 8vo, Vols. 1-38, 40 & 41 finely bound in cont. half morocco, a few scuffs, minor rubbing, raised bands to spines, marbled edges and endpapers; Vol. 42 pts 1-3, bound in buckram. Some foxing, occasional browning. From an institutional library with neat withdrawn stamps. Originally from the library of Lord Walsingham - Thomas de Grey, 6th Baron Walsingham (1843-1919), with his monogram to the spines; some volumes also bear his bookplate. Walsingham was a Conservative politician and an amateur lepidopterist. His collection of c. 260,000 specimens was one of the most important ever made and now forms part of the Natural History Museum collections.. Rare important early Russian entomological journal. Contains papers on insects and arachnids mainly in French or German. Some fine hand-coloured engraved plates in the early volumes..
