Forester's series following the adventures of Horatio Hornblower, a fictional Royal Navy officer during the Napoleonic Wars. The Hornblower series consists of twelve novels, of which one unfinished, and five short stories published between 1937 and 1967. Hornblower and the Atropos (1953) is the fifth novel in the series and third published.C. S. Forester was born in Cairo in 1899, lived in the UK and died in California, USA in 1966 (aged 66). He was an English novelist known for his writings on naval warfare.Signed by previous owner to front free endpaper. With unclipped dustwrapper. In the original publishers' brown cloth binding with gilt stamped titles to the spine. Externally, very smart with minor bumping to the spine and faint edge wear to extremities. Dustwrapper is slightly age toned internally to the spine and edges as well as presenting minor chipping and close tear predominantly to the head and tail of spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Previous owner's signature to front free endpaper. With unclipped dustwrapper. Near Fine

Sinopsis

Hornblower and the Atropos is a 1953 historical novel by C.S. Forester. In this novel, Horatio Hornblower is assigned to the Atropos, the smallest vessel in the English navy that qualifies to be commanded by a post-Captain, as he hunts for treasure in the Mediterranean Sea.

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
