Sobre este artículo

Boston: THE STRATFORD COMPANY, 1931. First Edition. Hardcover. Green faux leather. Near fine, in good dust wrapper and slip case. 294 pages. 28 x 21 cm. Ernest Henry Wilson (1876-1930), better known as E.H. Wilson, was a distinguished British plant collector and explorer who traveled to China (four times), Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania, India, Kenya, and South Africa. His contributions to the herbariums of the world number over sixteen thousand specimens; with over five thousand photographs; he introduced more than a thousand specimens, and introduced more than a thousand species previously unknown to cultivation; wrote twelve books and three hundred and eighty articles for various magazines. This book came out of the idea later in life (he tragically died in an automobile accident in his 50's) when the thought came to him: "What would I plant if I were to start all over again and plant a garden here in my new home in Massachusetts?" A perfect book for every amateur gardener - with the wisdom of one of the most notable horticulturists of the late 19th and early 20th century. Illustrated with 38 halftone plates from photographs. Ex Libris: Geoffrey Gordon Whitney/Alice Thaw Whitney. Geoffrey G. Whitney, a noted horticulturist and Stockbroker. Alice T. Whitney was the sister of Harry Kendall Thaw, married to Evelyn Nesbit, and most notable for murdering the renowned architect Stanford White in front of hundreds of witnesses at the rooftop theater of Madison Square Garden. Interior and board clean and crisp. Dust wrapper rubbed and chipped at edges. Housed in original illustrated, paper covered slip case - rubbed and chipped.
