Sobre este artículo

UK,12mo p/back,1st edn.[Originally and first published US,Pocket Books, (NY) in 1982.This the first UK p/back,1st edn is the first UK appearance of the title. It was reissued as UK,8vo HB+dw/dj,1st edn by HEADLINE in 1992 but as by Dean Koontz - dropping the pseudonym.] VG.No owner inscrptn, and no price removal from cover.Bright, crisp, clean,glossy,'eye-catching' die-cut front cover, with white and black outlined gilt lettering.Die-cutting is a design/printing process where a shape is cut into a book's cover or dw/dj - appropriately in this case - two eye holes have been cut, revealing the coloured eyes of the lead character Susan's,portrait illustrated free front endpaper behind the cover.white lettering to reading-creased spine, rear cover with white+ yellow lettered story precis; with negligible shelf-wear,bumping,creasing to edges and corners - a very tiny snick to rear cover's vertical edge - no others present.Top+fore-edges inevitably, but lightly aged/toned; contents bright, tight, clean with virtually no page-edge toning.Whilst there are no intentional dog-ear reading creases, there are accidental, lower corner creases with it's concomitant impression creases to the following consecutive pages; pp279 through to pp290,these being the only page corner creases in the book.UK,12mo p/back,1st edn,3-342pp [paginated] includes Pts One - Three, comprising 17 chapters in total; plus [unpaginated] female portrait colour artwork illustrated front free endpaper,half-title+title pages,a dedication, individual Pts separator pages and to the rear,4pp publishers adverts with a publisher's order page to reverse of the last advert page.
One of the 5 novels under the author's 'Nichols' pseudonym.Koontz didn't rate this himself, but the reading public responded enthusiastically when the book was reissued under his own name, and it was a New York Times number-one seller in paperback.
Opening sentence: When she woke, she thought she was blind.
She woke in a hospital bed.She did not know why she was there or who she was.All she knew was her growing love for the handsome doctor, and the memory of that awful death in THE HOUSE OF THUNDER
The faces that surrounded her, pretending loving care, were those of the four men involved in that murder twelve years before.
But they had all died. . . or had they?
No one would believe her or save her from their threats. No one knew that she was not mad.Was it all a macabre revenge for what happened in THE HOUSE OF THUNDER.
