The author a physiologist, who specializes in olfactory mechanisms, is well known as the inventor of a widely used olfactory test, the Standardized Olfactometer. He is also known for his research on the neocortex of the old world monkey, in which he investigated undefined olfactory areas and their efferent projections. These details are described in detail in Chapter IX. The bibliography to this volume lists hundreds of important publications concerning olfaction. Also this book, in total, is a compilation of current knowledge of all aspects of human olfaction, from the physiological and behavioral to the cultural and artistic- from science to art."
